Norman W. Boyd, Jr. DDS

"Dr. Norman" graduated from Lafayette College in 1964 with a degree in Physics. He then went on to Columbia University College of Dental Medicine (CDM) where he graduated in 1968. For the next two years, Dr. Boyd served in the Air Force as a dentist, stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi. Then, he received his advanced specialty training in Prosthodontics at New York University College of Dentistry. He has taught at Columbia University CDM for many years in the Prosthodontic Division.

He and his wife Julianne, artistic director of the Barrington Stage Company, have 3 children, Sarah, Ned (Norman III), and Emily.

Alvin T. Boyd, DMD

“Dr. Alvin” graduated from Lafayette College in 1967 with a degree in Biology. He then went on to University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where he graduated in 1971 with academic honors. Next, he did his residency in general dentistry at Philadelphia General Hospital where he was selected intern of the year. He has been in private practice in Manhattan since then and has taught at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in the Operative Dentistry Division for more than 25 years.

Recently, Dr. Alvin has lectured at the Greater New York Dental Meeting on a new technique (Fibrekor) for the esthetic replacement of missing teeth.

He and his wife Anne have 4 children, Justin, Allison, Evan and Andrew. His son Andrew is in the class of 2011 at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.

Justin S. Boyd, DDS

“Dr. Justin” graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Dartmouth College in 1996 where he was captain of his lacrosse team and won the MVP award his senior year. Before attending dental school he spent a year working in this office as a dental laboratory technician. Dr. Boyd graduated from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine (CDM) in 2001 attaining many clinical and academic honors. After dental school he completed a residency program in general dentistry at the Manhattan VA while working part-time in this office. He is now practicing full-time and teaching at Columbia University CDM in the Operative Dentistry Division. In addition, he volunteers his time at the New York County Dental Society as chair of the Mentoring Committee. Dr. Boyd is also an active member of the Manhattan Study Group and has earned over 500 hours of continuing education credit towards a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.

Justin has four children, Ryan, Brendan, Peter and Shepard.

Norman W. Boyd, III, DDS

“Dr. Ned” graduated cum laude from Harvard in 1996 concentrating in Classics-Latin, writing his senior thesis on the role of simile and ecphrasis in The Aeneid. He went on to teach Latin at his high school alma mater, Trinity School. Dr. Boyd graduated from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in 2001, where he was editor-in-chief of the Columbia Dental Review and was voted class speaker. Dr. Boyd completed his advanced specialty training in Prosthodontics at the NYU College of Dentistry where he also taught. In June 2003, he presented research at the International Association of Dental Research in Gothenburg, Sweden on a new type of porcelain material for crowns. He is currently in full-time private practice.

He lives in Manhattan with his son, Norman (Nate) W. Boyd, IV.
